Overview

Biography

Pavel Yuri Kozlov was born in Grozny, Chechnya at the dusk of June 12th of 1989. He was born to a single mother, being Masha Kozlov. Pavel's father, who is unidentified, ran soon after Masha revealed that she was pregnant. As such, Pavel was born with only one parent. They would not stay in the Soviet Union for long, as due to increasing food and housing prices led Pavel and his mother to illegally immigrating to Turkey. The Kozlovs would remain in Turkey working manual labor to support their life. Eventually, in 2004 after hearing from supportive family Masha and now 15 year old Pavel illegally passed into the now independent Georgia.

These family members, who had massive funds from acting as middlemen from transferring arms into insurgents around the Caucasus in order to subvert Russia's ambitions in the region, were willing to support Pavel and his mother's lifestyle, which led to Pavel finishing secondary school in one of the most acclaimed schools in the region. Pavel had thought his life was finally looking up, until the Russo-Georgian War in 2008. Pavel had already been serving in the Georgian armed forces since 2007, as it was one of many ways to earn citizenship for himself and close family members. The family members who had taken in Pavel and his mother in 2004 were executed on the 3rd of August by advancing Russian forces for their part in insurgency against Russia. Pavel's mother, Masha, was caught in the crossfire while Pavel was deployed. Distraught after hearing this news, Pavel disserted his post and fled Georgia 2 days after the end of the invasion, on the 14th of August, to seek political asylum in Eastern Europe.

He was soon granted political asylum by the European Union, and eventually expediated to immigrant status. Kozlov then moved to Lithuania in Vilnius. While there, using his military experience, was able to land a job as a security guard for the Bank of Lithuania. He stayed there for 2 years, earning enough money to fund a university education. Pavel went for a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, hoping to become a law assistant. Kozlov ended up as an investigative reporter, who went on to publish articles about known political extremists and criminals around Lithuania and parts of Poland. This worked for Pavel for 4 years, until the Foundation acquired him in 2020 after connecting strings and dots to him and an known artifact in Georgia during the Russo-Georgian War.

An anomalous artifact, one with unknown capabilities, was found to be in the possession of Kozlov during his service in the Georgian armed forces from 2007-2008. This is known because several genuine photographs and testimonies from ex-Russian soldiers confirmed Kozlov had a cube-like anomaly, similar to a proposed 4-dimensional tesseract. Several Foundation personnel had reported extreme migraines 2-4 hours after viewing any media containing the artifact, with migraines subsiding 24-48 hours after viewing. Kozlov has been interrogated and is confirmed to have no memory of ever being in possession of such an item, implying prolonged physical contact with the artifact could have amnestic capabilities. This, along with his prior experience as a security guard protecting valuable assets, was why the Foundation recruited him into the Security Department to prevent any potential leaks or incidents. Searching and investigation into this anomalous artifact is on-going.

Personality

Kozlov is witty and morbid, which is not uncommon for some that served in any armed forces, including the armed forces of the Foundation. Kozlov has always found a fascination with law, and does anything to uphold his own moral laws. These laws often coexist with Foundation conduct, making him additionally effective with his placement in the Security Department, however, such as shown with his desertion from his post in 2008, these moral reasonings may bend the rules. Perhaps unlike his unexperienced peers, Pavel is not easily shocked or appalled by some of the less savory aspects of the Foundation.

Kozlov has also been fascinated and confused by the workings of the Scientific Department, due to his lack of former education but a strong bond with knowledge and the thirst for it. He may tend to pester or annoy many medical and scientific personnel if so given the chance, however not for malicious reasons. Pavel is also dire for new personnel to meet and friends, which is surprising, given his past with losing people and items he deeply cares for. As described by one of his coworkers at Site-19 before being relocated to Site-21,
"Kozlov is a strange mix between an 9-year old child and a battle-hardened soldier. He can be the toughest son of a bitch you've ever met, or a kid begging for a fucking Kit-Kat."
