Special Diagnostics Team

» Special Diagnostics Team - Overview «

The Special Diagnostics Team (SDT) is a specialized elite team in MD, tasked with diagnosing and treating unknown and anomalous diseases. When patients are too difficult or complicated, or their case is simply too unfamiliar to H&P staff, the case is redirected to SDT. The care from SDT is primarily on human patients, but humanoid anomalies (Class-E) may be referred to SDT if PDT physicians are unavailable.

The Special Diagnostics Team (SDT) was established in 2015 to contribute to the expansion of the Medical Department. With three of the best doctors of Site-21, a specialized team was formed to diagnose and treat abnormal and unidentified illnesses. The team has grown since then, with the introduction of a new selection course for promising candidates.

When SDT is in need of members, it announces the selection course and the number of special diagnostics fellowships open. Accepted applicants are regarded as candidates and undergo a testing period until the number of candidates has been narrowed down to the number of available fellowships. During the testing period, the candidates are evaluated on their abilities by dealing with real SDT cases. Their abilities to think out of the box, work with the team, and contribute are all essential parts of their evaluation. The testing period is regarded as one of the toughest selection courses in Site-21. Even a minute mistake can make a significant impact on their rating — many times getting them kicked out.

The fresh fellows who were so fortunate to pass, are trained and educated in advanced diagnostic methods. Their knowledge of anomalous diseases is increased exponentially with esoteric wisdom. Being in SDT requires one to be equipped with the latest clinical procedures and diagnostic techniques. During the fellowship, the fellow's ability to problem-solve is greatly polished by studying samples and cases, investigating what is making patients unwell.

To deal with irregularities and enigmatic mysteries that not even board-certified doctors from H&P can figure out, the Special Diagnostics Team uses cutting-edge laboratory techniques, acquired from academic institutions far abroad. Such techniques include methods and information given by the The World Parahealth Organization. Special Diagnosticians often have abstruse and esoteric specializations not found in the branches of H&P. Due to this, they commonly assist in research for lesser-known fields of paranormal-medicine.
